Spirit
Whether you call it God, nature, the universe or reality, there is a singular form of energy that is within everyone and everything in the universe. This energy animates living beings and helps define inanimate objects. Human beings, who are essentially the most sophisticated and developed life forms we know, have the most to gain or lose through our understanding or lack of understanding of Spiritual energy.
Practicing yoga asanas and pranayama is a way to connect the body and mind to realize any number of benefits. Relief from stress or pain. Greater flexibility or strength. Better weight management, improved circulation or cardiovascular conditioning. Inner peace.
Inner peace comes from a connection with the spiritual energy that resides in all of us. This spirit is omnipresent but is often overshadowed because our overactive minds are preoccupied with the humdrum of daily life. If we can clear our minds and take a few moments to completely forget about the past and stop dwelling on the future, the spiritual energy around us will begin to become more perceptible. You will see it, hear it, feel it, taste it and smell it. And, eventually, you will immediately "know it when you see it" because it will appear to be something you have rarely experiences - or never experienced - before.
