Yoga for Children
Think yoga with a ton of fun and imagination. Yoga is a wonderful tool to help children increase their flexibility, strength, and most importantly, concentration. Childhood is an important time period where minds can become overactive. Attention spans are short while kids bop from one activity to another. We couldn't think of a more perfect time to begin yoga! At Niyama, children will learn the fundamentals of yoga through playful poses, games, music, reading, and storytelling. Poses are inspired by animals, nature, and even food- such as the Frog, Waterfall, and the Peanut Butter and Jelly Sandwich poses.
Children will learn how to nourish their minds and bodies through stretches, poses and various breathing exercises. In a non-competitive environment, yoga will enable them to develop an increased amount of self respect. The full benefits include:
- Improve balance and coordination
- Learn the art of breathing
- Strengthen body
- Increase flexibility
- Become more focused
- Develop self respect
- Build self confidence
